Our Favorite Vintage Persian Rug & Buying Tips
Old carpets are essential to creating the layered interiors that Moore House is known for! We think beautiful artifacts acquired on vacations or things that arouse an emotion should feel collected and emotionally meaningful in houses. One of the numerous ways we may create that atmosphere in a space is by using rugs.
Vintage Persian Rugs offer so many advantages that an
environmentally concerned customer should also support them. In addition to
helping artisans and their profession, these items are genuinely heirlooms.
Because the themes and patterns have been passed down through the generations,
they are perfect for families. Since they hide spills and stains quite
effectively due to the nature of their colors and patterns.
ADVANCED VENTURES
A vintage Persian rug may
be bought in one of two ways: at a flea market or a vintage store where you can
view it in person. There are primarily tribal carpets there as well. However,
occasionally you'll be lucky and locate a Persian rug. Even though we adore
tribal carpets, they sometimes lack the scale we want, and their patterns are
much more pronounced.
Our preferred method of finding carpets is through dealers in antique
rugs. You can locate a lot of fantastic suppliers. Therefore we can't divulge
all of our secrets. A skilled dealer will be able to instruct you on how to
develop your eye and tell you everything there is to know about these
extraordinary carpets. Village carpets are our preferred design find for our
clientele.
SELECTING A COLOR
Sometimes we begin with a rug and use the colors in the pattern to
guide our design decisions for the remainder of the space. If you're only
looking for a new carpet, be sure to pick one that incorporates at least two of
the hues that are currently present in the room. Always focus on the color, not
always the pattern. When selecting a motif, we tend to choose compact choices
like a Mahal or Malayer.
RECOVERING ANTIQUE AREA
RUGS
Let me start by saying that a tonne of excellent, well-picked shops
offer vintage Persian rug. There are
countless fantastic little businesses with an exceptionally well-curated variety.
For that, they deserve major kudos. Excellent second-hand carpets are difficult
to find and take much time to research.
However, because of the curation and time required to have them
cleaned, etc., there are occasions when I am unable to buy carpets that are
marked up. You may locate inexpensive rugs online for an excellent price with a
bit of digging. Many tiny businesses on Instagram will perform your research
for you if you don't have the time to do it yourself.
